Helps the Pastor Keep and Maintain Focus

To be honest, when I first received the book from one of the parishioners, I started the book but did not complete it. But once the church started some transistions then I pickup up the book and could not put it down. In so many words, the book cleared your focus on being a pastor as it relates to personal relationships with God, family, and the flock. The book was also helpful because it gave us common examples with names and faces. Was not an ideology book, but one that gave strenght to the subject and made it real. Would suggest this book to a young pastor, just starting out to help get the right footing.

This book did a good job of renewing the heart for pastors in every situation. It was a great book to read starting in pastoral ministry to help frame ministry. It also helps a pastor to love the people better and adopt a "bloom where you're planted" approach to ministry that is refreshingly needed.

It was Elder Taylor's intention to superintend the publishing of "The Government of God" in person, previous to his departure for Great Salt Lake City last spring; but the numerous cares attending the French and German Missions, of which he was President; the translation of the Book of Mormon into the French and German languages; the establishment of L'Etiole du D�s�ret at Paris, and Zions Panier at Hamburg; together with a multitude of other business connected with the welfare of the Kingdom of God, rendered it impossible.

The manuscript was therefore handed to me by Elder Taylor, with a request to superintend the printing of the work, which I have done to the best of my ability.

Considering the disadvantages arising from the Author's absence during the reading of the proofs, I believe it is as correctly rendered as was possible from a manuscript copy.

The Work is now before the Public, and from one portion at least it will meet with a cordial reception, treating as it does upon the theme most dear to their hearts - the Reign of Righteousness and Peace.

Despicable plagiarism AND misattribution

This edition is an exact reproduction of the Project Gutenberg edition - they were too lazy to even strip off the Project Gutenberg license. (If they had stripped the license, that would be legal, but since they haven't they owe PG royalties. I doubt these are being paid.) Get the PG Kindle edition yourself for free at gutenberg.org.

To make this just a bit more pathetic, this edition lists the name of the author incorrectly (was just John Taylor, not John M. Taylor), reflecting a glitch in the PG system (that PG is aware of and is going to fix).

It's an excellent book, but this edition is shameful.

About the Author
Charles Donovan is Principal Teaching Fellow at Imperial College Business School in London. He was most recently Head of Structuring and Valuation for Alternative Energy at BP plc, where he was responsible for investment evaluation and project financings in North America, Europe, and Asia. He began his career as an Energy Policy Analyst with the US Environmental Protection Agency during the Clinton Administration and subsequently worked for the Enron Corporation. His experience includes several years in private sector consulting, advising national governments and multinational energy companies on the impacts of governmental policy on investment. Dr Donovan holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington, a MBA from Vanderbilt University, and a DBA in Management from IE Business School.

Brilliant, best book on RE finane I have come across

Excellent book for those that want to gain a broad understanding of how renewable energy projects can be financed, by who, how these projects compare against other assets, and how the field might evolve in the near future. Key strength is that each chapter is written by a real expert in the area and is full of relevant insights supported by world-class sources and data (e.g. IEA, CPI, BNEF).
I found especially interesting the conceptual model that illustrates the influence of cost of capital on the valuation of RE investments across different investor types (Ch3) and the analysis of potential impact in financing costs across a range of policies (e.g. duration of support, revenue certainty, risk perception, etc.) in Ch5. The analysis of whether/how institutional investors can play a role in RE project financing in the future is outstanding and really worth reading in detail (Ch11).

Just got this book to help brief some colleagues on financing wind and solar projects. It is a great entry point and goes deep for people with substantive finance experience as well. I recommend it for people interested in expanding their own understanding of financing renewable projects and are looking for some clear examples of how to make financing projects more successful.
